Green Falls Short Against Wlodarcyk

Krzysztof Wlodarcyk has retained his WBC Cruiserweight title with a 11th round stoppage of Australian, Danny Green.

In this fight Green was hoping to return to world championship glory after being soundly beaten by Antonio Tarver in his previous unsuccessful IBO world title defense. From the begging it seemed that Green was well in charge with his ramrod of a left jab and rights to the body, Green for the majority of the fight was staying back on the ropes and trying to time his opponent onto left jabs and right hands.

In the middle rounds Wlodarczyk walked into a fierce left jab which made him stumble and it appeared that Green was going to knock his opponent out, however because of his opponents tight high defense this objective was unable to be achieved.

Green pattern of out boxing his opponent appeared to continue until rounds 9 and 10 when Wlodarczyk’s jab appeared to finally find its target, but in my opinion Green still won those rounds, going into the 11th round I had Green 8 rounds up.

By this stage he appeared to be heading towards certain victory, then in the 11th round Green got hit with a right hand and then got hit with a left hook flush on the chin which knocked him down and it appeared that Green was not getting up but he showed incredible courage to make it up by the count of 9, the referee determined he was not fit to continue.

Green's dream was over and the majority of the crowd in Challenge Stadium were stunned along with many in there lounge rooms watching on Main Event.

John Dominates Merdov

In the co feature bout which was after the main event, Chris John took on Stanyslav Merdov in their WBA super world featherweight title fight, this was a big coo for the Australian public because Chris John rarely fights out of home base in Indonesia.

Chris John dominated the fight with solid right hands superior defensive skills and combinations, he was very un-Chris John like in appearing to look for the knock out after hitting some solid right hands which appeared to wobble his opponent in the early stages as a result he over extended on certain occasions which he wouldn’t normally do and got hit with some right hands himself which produced a cut over the eye, but overall it was another boxing master class from Chris John which produced a unanimous decision victory to Chris John.

Tomlinson Wins IBO Title In War

Next was for the IBO super Featherweight world title between rising Australian superstar “Wild” Will Tomlinson and tough Mexican Alan Herrera, this was Will’s first shot at a world title and was going to be his toughest fight yet against the tough Mexican determined to spoil the Australian party.

From the beginning you knew Will was going to be in deep water when a deep cut began to open up over his right eye, however Will is used to cuts and was able to out box Herrera with beautiful left jabs and right hands to the body, as the fight went on because of a head butt a cut began to develop down the bridge of Will’s nose and underneath the left eye.

Will was dealing with three cuts and showed incredible intestinal fortitude and courage to claim his first world title and my personal opinion with the power and speed that this kid has got in both hands if he stops over extending and over balancing on those right hands and decides to use more of his boxing skills instead of being willing to trade all the time “Wild” Will can accomplish much more in the sporty of boxing.

Rising Star, Yordan Too Strong For Archuleta

We then saw Young Indonesian rising star Daud Cino Yordan who took on veteran Frankie Archuleta who’s had victories over the likes of Johnny Tapia, from the beginnings you knew that Archuleta was majorly out of his depth and going to be majorly out classed, Yordan was walking up on Archuleta and treating him with utter content, hitting Archuleta with powerful combinations, with precession accuracy and power and you knew it was a mere formality that Archuleta was going to get stopped, he was taken care of in 4 rounds and Yordan gained his IBO Asia Pacific Featherweight title and in my opinion with this guys skill level and precession accuracy this title is the first of many I believe will end up around this man’s waist

McCracken Stops Tilyard In Four

What began the nights drama was a war between the two big guys, Anthony “The Bull” McCracken and Shane Tilyard involved themselves in an absolute war where there seemed to be absolutely no regard for each other’s defense and it seemed to be a battle of McCracken’s right hand vs Tilyard’s uppercut, during the fight McCracken had to deal with major swelling over one of his eyes, which was threatening to close over and obscure his vision, in the end McCracken’s determination and will shone through and he managed to get rid of Tilyard in round 4.
