Australian Light Welterweight, Ranee 'KO KID' Ganoy ended the year with a convincive 8 round unanimous decision over Indonesian, Roy Tua Manihurukat the Sunshine Roller Skating Centre in Melbourne on Friday night.
The judges scored the bout (78-74, 79-72, 78-73). Ganoy scored a knockdown in round 7 and dominated the final round but was unable to get the stoppage in a gruelling slugfest.
Leading up to the fight Ganoy's manager-Mike Altamura said, "“It’s great to have Ranee back in Melbourne. It’s an exciting time for Ranee and I know speaking to his trainer Graham Shaw that he’s been training the house down in readiness. The USA interest is strong and I’ve already told Ranee that this is the fight where I want him to prove to me that we’re good to go. I expect a sharp performance from him and from there, I don’t care what Lightweight is put in front of us over, I know we’ll be spot on ready!”
Kimweri Decisions KiatmungmeeIn the co-feature bout, Australian Light Flyweight-Omari Kimweri dropped Lookrak Kiatmungmee in the opening round but the Thai was able to last the 8 round distance. The judges scored the fight to Kimweri (79-74, 79-72, 78-74).
The Australian controlled the fight but was cut severely above his left eye which was one of the worst cuts I have witnessed in Australian boxing in 2011.
It was Kimweri's 3rd victory of 2011 in a year where he captured the WBO Oriental Light Flyweight title. The Australian is currently rated #15 by the WBO.
Showtime Continues Winning WaysPaul 'Showtime' Fleming continued his streak with his 5th knockout from 5 fights in 2011 with a second round stoppage of Petchthongchai Sirimongkolgym. Fleming was too strong for the Thai with the stoppage coming at 2:06. Big things await for 'Showtime' in 2012 with Paul expected to head back to the states for 2 fights early in the year .
Fleming's record sits at 12-0 (9 KO's).
